Reflection: Digital technologies and me

As a teacher and student in today's world, I use digital technologies a lot in my workplace and at home. I grew up with technology, so I'm good at using it. These tools have changed how I learn, talk to people, and how I see the world.

Digital technologies have changed the way I get and understand information. The internet helps me learn because I can find lots of information quickly. During the ILT module, I learned about different websites that can make learning fun for both in-person and online classes. Some of these are Twee, Genially, Bamboozle, Kahoot, Quizziz, and Padlet. Now, I can make my lessons more interesting for my students, and they can also learn on their own after class. Teachers like Kay Livingston and Rae Condie say that it's important to help students learn how to learn and to organize information from different places. They also say that blended learning lets students choose how they want to learn and what they need to learn more about. Students have the chance to take control of their learning and be part of the learning and studying process. Also, students can use the materials alone, especially when they choose to do this on their own, and they can pick how they want to study, such as reading, online, or interactive. This helps them learn how to keep learning throughout their lives. For example, I started a blog during the module to help my students practice and improve their skills at home. According to Johnson et al. (1999), this step is important because it connects new ideas to what we already know. Mixing different ways of learning also lets students try out different ways of learning and helps them become more independent learners.

Also, I use social media and digital platforms to talk with my friends. I text, use social networks, and work together on platforms like Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram. This has changed how I make and keep friendships. Also, the way I talk has changed because of digital communication, from short text messages to trying to be creative and clear. However, using technology can help us learn more and be better prepared for the future (citing Christopher et al., 2011). Before, I taught using books, but now using digital technology makes my classes more interesting and helpful.

Even though I'm really good at using computers and phones, not everyone has had as much practice. Some people had to learn about digital stuff later in life, and they might see things differently than I do. It's important for everyone to learn about using technology so we can all understand it better. Even though I think it's easy, I know that not everyone feels the same way.

I think about how computers and gadgets have changed my life, and I know they're really important to me every day. Because I've always had these things, I know not everyone has had the same experience. I think it's important for us to work together and understand each other so that everyone can feel welcome and supported when using technology.
